I never heard of Crime Spree. It only had a limited US release. I managed to get Texas Chainsaw through lots of Googling -- I thought the swimmer looked like Cory Feldman.

I got texas chainsaw, but that movie is truly terrible. It doesn't leave a footprint on the original (not the remake with jessica biel). Again, congrats to camarat. What a trooper...

@Matt The Original Chainsaw Massacre is a classic that none of the remakes can match, but I don't find them terrible. In fact I think they are great interteainment, with lots of gore and action but they can't match the sinister horror from the original. In all cases, the remakes are definetly better than any of movies that followed the original series.

No, I agree with you. The remakes are entertaining, but they are just gore. I know the original was violent, but not as violent. But despite this, it is still one of the most unnerving films ever made. It didn't need over the top gore such as "the beginning". I can't remember any other film leaving such a lasting effect on me. It is truly terrifying.

It really is sublime horror. No movie has topped it since. Except maybe Saw 3. kidding!
